ENCINITAS–A female pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Encinitas, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports.

At approximately 7:58 p.m., a female pedestrian in her 50’s was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on the 2600 block of South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas. 

The driver of the involved vehicle stopped immediately and remained at the scene of the collision. The driver and nearby bystanders rendered medical aid to the injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision. The involved driver is cooperating with investigators. 

Sheriff’s Deputies from the North Coastal Station along with the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the accident.
