Woman arrested on suspicion of post office vandalism

By Gina Yarbrough

Santee, CA–A Santee woman was arrested on suspicion of vandalizing an East County U.S. Post Office early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of vandalism around 8:06 p.m. at the post office at 9518 Mission Gorge Road in Santee.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a witness reported seeing a woman using black spray paint to deface the front of the building. The damage, near the entrance doors, measured roughly 5 feet by 10 feet.

Although deputies searched the area that evening, they were unable to locate the suspect. Investigators later identified 52-year-old Brandy Thomas as a possible suspect.

Early Sunday morning, deputies detained Thomas in the Mission Gorge area. Authorities said she was carrying black spray paint cans and had paint on her hands, legs, and clothing. Additional evidence also tied her to the crime.

Thomas was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility.

The Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the Santee Sheriff’s Station at (619) 956-4000.
