SAN DIEGO–A Vista man was charged with robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in San Diego.
On November 10, FBI agents arrested Christopher Gibson, 26 in Vista without incident. Gibson is believed to be responsible for the October 7 robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank at 685 Saturn Boulevard in San Diego. The arrest followed the filing of a federal complaint by an FBI agent on November 7.
The FBI Joint Bank Robbery Task Force, composed of FBI special agents and task force officers from San Diego Police Department and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, received an anonymous tip through San Diego Crime Stoppers. The tip assisted in the identification of Gibson as the individual allegedly responsible for the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank.
According to the complaint Gibson was released from the George Bailey Detention Center on October 7. Gibson was provided his personal clothes, which included a shirt described as the one the robber wore during the robbery. Gibson also had a full beard and unkempt hair when he was released.
Gibson remains in custody at the Bureau of Prisons, Metropolitan Correction Center. He is next scheduled to appear for a detention hearing on November 15.
