San Marcos, CA–Fire crews responding to a structure fire early Saturday morning at the San Marcos Equestrian discovered two bodies after the fire was extinguished, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies from the San Marcos Station responded to a 1:37 a.m. report of the fire at the equestrian, located in the 2600 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road in the unincorporated area of San Marcos. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a home and several trailers fully engulfed in flames. 

After the fire was extinguished, the bodies were found. One person was located outside a toy hauler travel trailer and the second person was found inside the trailer. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of their deaths, as well as identification of the bodies pending notification of family. 

No deputies, firefighters or animals were hurt in the fire. 

The Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson investigators do not believe it is a criminal act. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
