OCEANSIDE–A 62-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday in a vehicle collision in Oceanside, the Oceanside Police Department reports.

Just after 6:30 p.m., the Oceanside Police Department responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 2200 block of Oceanside Boulevard. Police officers located the victim with a serious head injury lying in the number two, westbound lanes of Oceanside Blvd., according to Matthew Bussey, of the Oceanside Police Department

Authorities have launched an investigation as to which vehicle was involved in the fatal collision. Several vehicles stopped at the scene of the fatal collision. It is unknown if the pedestrian was under the influence of any substance at the time of the incident.

The name of the victim has not been released pending family notification.

The investigation is ongoing.
