San Diego CA–A vegetation fire that broke out on Tuesday in the Barona area has been contained by fire crews, authorities said.
The blaze, dubbed the Wildcat Fire, burned near the Giant Paintball Park near the Barona Oaks MX Motocross Facility on Barona Road and Wildcat Canyon Road, according to CalFire.
Fire crews battled the fire on the ground, and in the air with assistance from aircrafts.
Evacuation warnings were issued for residents in the San Diego Country Estates along Barona Mesa Road and Vista Vicente Drive. A temporary evacuation point was set up at Olive Peirce Middle School at 1521 Hanson Lane in Ramona.
CalFire and other crews were able to stop the fire’s spread to 20 acres, fire officials said.
Evacuation warnings were later lifted, and residents were allowed to return to their homes, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department tweeted.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
