Oceanside, CA–A male and female pedestrian crossing Oceanside Boulevard were struck and killed in the middle of the roadway by a vehicle traveling eastbound Thursday evening, Oceanside Police Department said.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision around 8:37 p.m. near the 1800 block of Oceanside Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located the two pedestrians on the road. Officers attempted life-saving measures but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Oceanside Boulevard was closed from Goat Hill Drive to Interstate 5 for several hours to allow for an investigation of the incident.
According to Oceanside police, the motorist immediately stopped and offered cooperation in the investigation. Impairment and speed are not believed to be a factor in the collision. The names of the victims have not been released pending family notifications.
The Oceanside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is actively investigating the incident.
