SAN DIEGO–A suspicious package found at the northeast corner of the San Diego Central Courthouse delayed regular court proceedings for a brief time, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities located the package near the intersection of Union Street and B Street, on an adjacent courthouse retaining wall.

In an abundance of caution, the area was secured, and bomb arson was requested. San Diego Fire Department’s M.A.S.T. (Metro Arson Strike Team) responded and determined the container did not contain any explosive or hazardous materials, and the area was deemed safe.

The container was impounded by Sheriff’s deputies as found property and the investigation is ongoing.
