SAN DIEGO–Two Long Beach murder suspects are in police custody after leading CHP officers on a vehicle pursuit near the U.S. and Mexican border, according to authorities.
On Friday, at approximately 7:03 a.m, California Highway Patrol San Diego area units received a be-on-the-lookout broadcast for two murder suspects out of Long Beach traveling southbound possibly towards Mexico.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., CHP units observed a blue Acura Integra matching the description traveling southbound on Interstate 805 over Interstate 8. Officers began following the vehicle.
An officer attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on the Acura at which point the driver of the Acura failed to stop and led the units on a pursuit. The pursuit came to a stop on Camino De La Plaza over Interstate 5. The driver and the passenger both fled the scene on foot and were apprehended a short time later by CHP and United States Customs and Border Protection officers.
The driver and passenger were turned over to the Long Beach Police Department.
