OCEANSIDE–A man standing on a railroad track Sunday was fatally struck by a southbound Amtrak train, transit authorities reports.
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to the collision just after 2:30 p.m. on the railroad track crossing, located at 250 Cassidy Street in Oceanside.
The Amtrak train was traveling approximately 50 to 60 miles per hour when the train operator observed a male pedestrian standing on the tracks. The train went into emergency braking but was unable to stop in time and fatally struck the male.
