Leucadia, CA–Construction crews are planning a traffic shift for North Coast Highway in preparation for an installation of a stormwater pipeline in Leucadia.

The work was previously scheduled for March 8 to occur at Encinitas Boulevard to A Street but has been rescheduled for March 15. The new project area will be between Marcheta Street and El Portal Street.

Lane closures and traffic shifts are planned to move all vehicles and cyclists onto the southbound lanes to provide a safe work zone for construction crews working in the northbound lanes of North Coast Highway 101.

Concrete barriers will be placed to shift traffic and provide one northbound lane and one southbound lane on the west side of the highway. Flaggers will direct traffic during the construction.

The work will take place in three phases with some changes to the lane closure lengths and barricade placement over the next several months.

Cyclists will share the lane with vehicle traffic through the work zone between Marcheta Street and El Portal Street. The city will post “Bikes May Use Full Lane” signs throughout the work zone. Temporary no parking will be in place along the east side of North Coast Highway 101.

Construction crews will be present on-site between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m with occasional night work to adjust lane shifts and move barricades. Motorists plan for delays-if driving in the area, drive safely, and share the lane with cyclists.
