SPRING VALLEY–A Inmarsat phone threat to an elementary school prompted a lockdown on Thursday at the campus, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

The call was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. at Bancroft Elementary, located at 8805 Tyler Street in Spring Valley. The male caller, possibly juvenile, stated there would be a shooting at the school and they should go on lockdown. The staff put the school into lockdown and notified the Sheriff’s Department of the incident.

Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the school. There were no further threats or other information substantiating the threat, according to authorities.

The school initiated a structured dismissal with law enforcement present. The students were dismissed without incident. The threat is under investigation.
