EL CAJON–Authorities are searching for the suspects responsible for vandalizing two east county churches, authorities said.
Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station were alerted to vandalism which occurred overnight at Saint Peters Chaldean Catholic Cathedral, located at 1627 Jamacha Way in the unincorporated community of El Cajon.
During the investigation, deputies learned that the vandalism included spray-painted images on the exterior walls. The spray-painted included images of swastikas and political images.
Deputies were later alerted to another vandalism, which occurred overnight at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, located at 1101 South Mollison Ave. in the unincorporated community of El Cajon. During the investigation, deputies learned that this vandalism also included spray-painted images on an exterior wall of the church, which included images of swastikas.
Both incidents are under investigation by detectives from the Rancho San Diego Station, currently no suspects have been identified.
The Sheriff’s Department thoroughly investigates all crimes of hate and there is no tolerance for these crimes occurring in our communities.
