Imperial Beach, CA–The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a suspected arson fire that broke out early Saturday morning at an apartment complex in the South Bay, according to authorities.

The Sheriff’s Department received a call of a fire at an apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Emory Street in Imperial Beach.

Deputies, along with fire crews from Imperial Beach, Coronado, Chula Vista, and San Diego arrived at the scene of heavy smoke exiting from the unit. 

Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the blaze in less than 30 minutes, according to fire officials. 

The Sheriff’s Department Bomb and Arson detectives were called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
