Spring Valley, CA–Seven individuals were arrested Wednesday during a law enforcement operation at a homeless encampment in Spring Valley, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies from the department’s Homeless Assistance Resource Team, along with the Rancho San Diego Crime Suppression Team, conducted the sweep in response to ongoing complaints from residents regarding unauthorized encampments and public nuisance concerns.
Authorities said they had previously offered services to those living in the encampment, including access to shelter, mental health resources, and substance abuse treatment. Individuals were also warned that camping on private property is not allowed.
During the operation, seven people were taken into custody for outstanding warrants. Deputies also issued 26 citations for various violations. Additionally, five vehicles—believed to be contributing to excessive trash and debris in the area—were towed from a nearby residential neighborhood.
Sheriff’s officials emphasized that the department is continuing its dual approach of outreach and enforcement, aiming to connect unhoused individuals with support services while also addressing safety and quality-of-life issues raised by the community.
