El Cajon, CA–The El Cajon Police Department is investigating the death of a homeless man found near a shopping center Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a possible assault around 3 a.m. in the 100 block of West Main Street. When they arrived at the scene, they found the victim, identified as a known homeless man, with injuries consistent with blunt-force trauma.
Despite the efforts of officers and Heartland Fire paramedics who provided first aid and CPR, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
No suspects are in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Out of respect for the victim and his family, his identity is being withheld by the El Cajon Police Department.
