San Diego, CA–A woman suspected of killing her wife, Cal Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi was taken into custody Saturday by authorities in Mexico.
Mexican authorities notified the U.S. Marshals that Olejniczak Marodi had been located in Mexico and arrested. She was later released to the U.S. Marshals and taken into custody at a U.S. Port of Entry. She is being processed and will be booked into custody for murder.
On Feb. 17, the victim, Rebecca Marodi, 49 was found deceased by her mother who lives on the Ramona property in an ADU. Marodi had several injuries to her neck, chest, and back consistent with a stabbing. Marodi’s wife, Yolanda Olejniczak Marodi, 53 was seen on surveillance video earlier in the evening arguing with her wife and physically assaulting her. Olejniczak Marodi was then seen leaving the scene before the victim’s mother arrived home. Deputies and emergency fire personnel arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures. Marodi succumbed to her injuries.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Olejniczak Marodi entered Mexico in her vehicle at the San Ysidro port of entry on Feb. 17.
Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are working to gather more information to determine the circumstances and motivation behind this death. The investigation is ongoing.
