Valley Center, CA–A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of another man on an Indian reservation in Valley Center on February 23, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities responded to a report of a shooting incident around 1 p.m. at the 7500 block of Mendoza Road on the Rincon Indian Reservation.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 46-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

Deputies also detained a 31-year-old man, identified as Kyle Del Gregory, a resident of Valley Center. A rifle was recovered from the scene by law enforcement officials. Del Gregory was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. He is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held without bail pending further legal proceedings, the Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Authorities have not disclosed any potential motive for the shooting, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
