OCEANSIDE–A vehicle collision Saturday claimed the life of a driver in Oceanside, traffic investigators say.
Oceanside police said the accident occurred just before 11p.m., near State Route 76 and Canyon Drive. When police officers on scene they located a single vehicle located off the roadway north of the intersection.
The vehicle, a 2008 Honda Civic, was driven north on Canyon Dr. and continued through the intersection. The vehicle hit a curb and concrete retaining wall before going airborne. The Honda was airborne an estimated 80 to 100 feet before landing on the bike path and rolled over, coming to rest upside down. Officers found the unidentified driver deceased inside the vehicle. The cause of the collision and other associated factors are not known at this time.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
