LEMON GROVE–Sheriff’s deputies caught a man in the act of a residential burglary in Lemon Grove Tuesday morning.

The Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station responded to a call at 8:55 a.m. of a burglary in progress at the 1600 block of Colfax Drive. Deputies arrived and observed a male on the property who ran into the house.

Numerous attempts were made to contact the man and get him to peacefully surrender.  Deputies were able to make contact with the owner of the residence who was away on vacation, and able to verify no one was supposed to be in the home.

With the assistance of a Chula Vista Police K-9, deputies made entry into the residence and took the man into custody. The suspect, a 57-year-old male, was booked into jail on felony charges. He was contacted by the K-9 and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
