Rancho Santa Fe, CA–A woman was arrested on Friday in connection with a protest during Vice President Kamala Harris’s arrival at a North County residence for a political fundraiser.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. in the 1600 block of Circa del Norte in Rancho Santa Fe.
The demonstration, which drew approximately 50 protesters, occurred outside the gated entrance to the Fairbanks Ranch community. The protesters were calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. In a dramatic turn of events, one protester attempted to block Harris’s motorcade by jumping in front of it, prompting deputies to intervene and detain the individual.
During the commotion, another protester intervened, allowing the first individual to escape. The second protester, identified as 36-year-old Anisa Rebecca Chaudry, was arrested on a charge of obstructing a police officer. Chaudry was taken to the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station and cited and released.
