FALLBROOK–A 38 year-old female passenger sitting in a parked vehicle along Interstate 15 was killed after a small plane crashed into the back of the car.

The five other passengers survived and were transported to local hospitals, authorities said Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said the passenger, Antoinette Frances Isbelle was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passengers in the vehicle, Aaron Meccann, Emily Boesmiller-Hoch, Jason Soule, suffered non-life threatening  injuries.

The pilot of the a single-engine Lancair IVP plane, Dennis Hogge, 62, and his female passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospitals.

According to authorithies, the driver, Meccann, parked the Nissan 4-door sedan on the shoulder of the I-15 freeway to sync his Bluetooth with the car. The plane landed on the freeway before crashing  into the rear of the vehicle killing Isbelle.

Witnesses reportedly seeing the plane trying to land on the northbound I-15, near State Route 76 before skidding into the car.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the collision.
