DEL MAR–A pedestrian walking her dog northbound along the railroad tracks Wednesday was fatally struck by a train as she attempted to cross over the tracks.
The female and the dog were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s North Coastal Transit Enforcement Unit.
The 5 p.m. collision occurred on the railroad tracks just west of 11th Street and Stratford Court in Del Mar.
A northbound Coaster train was traveling approximately 48 miles per hour when it struck the woman and her dog.
