Vista, CA–Operation HOPE-North County, an emergency shelter for families with children, and single women, has appointed Jimmy Figueroa as the new executive director.
Figueroa comes to the role from the Resilience Community Mentoring Program where he served as program manager. He developed and implemented the program under the Vista Community Clinic’s Health Promotion Center and in partnership with the San Diego County Probation Department. Prior to that, he worked with Oceanside Promise creating a pilot initiative for Latinx youth, and as program supervisor for Project REACH Libby Lake.
He is an alumnus of Oceanside Unified School District and MiraCosta College and holds a B.A. in political science from UC Berkeley, and a Juris Doctor Degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
Figueroa is a strong community advocate for the underserved, and currently holds leadership roles within the North County Gang Commission, Oceanside Police and Fire Commission, and MiraCosta Foundation Board.
