OCEANSIDE–The Christmas celebration officially kicked off in Oceanside Thursday night with the lighting of the city’s 12th annual Holiday Tree Lighting celebration.
Hundreds of North County families gathered at the Regal Cinema Plaza for the event which featured carolers and a special holiday performance by the Star Theater’s Star Kids and Glee Club.
The highlight of the celebration was the arrival of Santa Claus, who arrived by a vintage fire truck to light the Christmas tree and spread a little holiday cheer. Santa joined Oceanside city leaders in lighting the brand new tree.
After the ceremony ended, parents and children lined up for a photo opportunity with Santa. Each child who met with Santa received free milk and cookies, courtesy of Cathy’s Cookies.
