Oceanside, CA–Do you have gently used purses and backpacks in your closet?

The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library is accepting donations of those items to sell at their October 21 fundraiser, Purses for a Purpose, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside.

On October 21, early bird shopping for Friends members only will be available from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and memberships may be purchased at the door.

“Many of us have purses and backpacks we no longer use, taking up space in our closets. The Friends would be thrilled to have those items, and offer them for sale at the event,” Friends’ Vice President Mona Marra said.

The Friends ask that purse or backpack donations be brought to the following locations by October 7: Civic Center Library Lobby, 330 N. Coast Highway, Mission Branch Library Lobby, 3861-B Mission Avenue, John Landes Community Center Library Lobby, 2855 Cedar Road, and Jane and Evie’s Used Books, 323 North Coast Highway,

Proceeds from Purses for a Purpose will help the library purchase books and other print and digital media; provide programs and events for all ages; offer technology resources such as 3D printing; and enhance outreach efforts through bookmobiles, mini-libraries, and home deliveries.
