Oceanside, CA–A toddler found in a small pond in Oceanside Tuesday afternoon is alive, the Oceanside Police Department said.
Officers responded to a radio call of a one-and-a-half-year-old drowning victim in the 2800 block of Benet Road, just before 4 p.m.
According to Oceanside Police, the child’s mother found the toddler floating in a small pond on the property and not breathing. The mother began screaming, which caught the attention of Reach Medics who were on scene at the nearby Fire Training Center. Oceanside Fire Department paramedics also responded to the location, and the child was life-flighted to Rady’s Children’s Hospital.
Detectives from the Oceanside Police Department’s Family Protection Unit responded to investigate the incident.
