Suspected carjacker arrested after pursuit and rollover crash

By Gina Yarbrough

Vista, CA–A suspected carjacker was arrested early Sunday morning following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in a rollover crash in Vista, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident began around 1:25 a.m. in the 900 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, where authorities responded to reports of a carjacking involving five armed individuals. The suspects allegedly forced the victim out of their vehicle, though the victim was not harmed.

Sheriff’s deputies initiated a search of the area, eventually locating the stolen vehicle near West Vista Way and Emerald Drive. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect lost control and crashed into a small median.

The driver, identified as an adult male, was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity as the investigation remains ongoing.
