Carlsbad, CA–A two-alarm structure fire broke out in a residential neighborhood in Carlsbad on Saturday, leaving one person dead and another injured, according to authorities.
According to authorities, firefighters responded to a report of a residential fire in the 900 block of Pine Avenue, near the intersection of Harding Street at 1:32 p.m.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the residence was engulfed in flames, with heavy smoke billowing from the home.
Carlsbad Fire Department spokesperson Holly Gonzalez stated the injured individual was transported to a local hospital. The condition of the individual was not available.
The identity of the deceased victim has not been released.
Eastbound Pine Ave. and Harding Street will remain closed for an unknown duration while investigators are on the scene. All other roads have reopened, Carlsbad Police Department tweeted.
The cause of the structure fire is under investigation.
