San Marcos, CA–A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a violent home invasion and sexual assault that occurred earlier this month in San Marcos, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary and sexual assault on July 8 in the 1400 block of Grand Avenue. According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Adolfo Brito, forced his way into a woman’s room while armed with a box cutter.
Brito allegedly ordered the victim to hand over several pieces of jewelry before demanding that she undress. He then proceeded to assault her, authorities said. The victim fought back, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
Following an investigation, the Sheriff’s Fugitive Task Force located Brito on July 15 in the 1300 block of Park Center Drive in Vista, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Brito was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on multiple felony charges, including robbery, burglary, assault with the intent to commit a felony, assault with a deadly weapon, and grand theft.
