Oceanside, CA–A female pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries Monday night after being struck by a truck tractor near State Route 76 in Oceanside, according to authorities.
The Oceanside Police Department responded to reports of a major injury collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle near the intersection of SR-76 and Canyon Drive.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:11 p.m. when a 2013 Freightliner Truck Tractor traveling eastbound on SR-76 hit a pedestrian who was walking along the roadway’s fog line.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Lynwood, California, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Police confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian, identified as a 47-year-old white female from San Diego, was airlifted to Scripps Hospital. She underwent surgery and is currently in critical condition.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
