SAN DIEGO–An investigation is underway Thursday after a pedestrian was struck by a train in San Diego, Sheriff’s Department Transit Enforcement Unit reports.
Just after 12 noon, an Amtrak train was traveling northbound when the engineer saw a man walking towards the tracks near Washington and Noell Streets in the Five Points area. The engineer sounded the emergency horns and applied the emergency brakes, but the man ignored the warnings. The train was not able to stop before fatally striking the man.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
