Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in Carlsbad

By SDCN Staff

Carlsbad, CA–A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Carlsbad, authorities confirmed.

The Carlsbad Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 4:57 a.m. in the 6600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard. Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle traveling northbound near Island Way collided with a male pedestrian who was standing in the roadway.

The driver stopped immediately, provided assistance, and called 911. Upon arrival, officers performed CPR until Carlsbad Fire Department personnel took over with advanced life-saving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have yet to confirm the pedestrian’s identity and are working to establish identification. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, though police do not currently believe alcohol or drugs played a role.

The Carlsbad Police Department is seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is urged to contact Traffic Accident Investigator Adam Bentley at (442) 339-5559.
