San Diego CA–The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) has announced the upcoming 2025 Economic Summit scheduled on April 29 at the Liberty Station Conference Center in San Diego.
This year’s theme, “The Future Is Now,” reflects the progress and once-in-a-generation investment beginning to take shape throughout South County. With projects advancing across housing, infrastructure, hospitality, and economic development, the Summit promises a dynamic exploration of the immediate and long-term future of South County. Tony McCune serves as the event’s title sponsor.
The day will feature a lineup of insightful panels, visionary forecasts, and engaging discussions.
Keynote speaker Caroline Beteta, CEO of Visit California, will provide expert insight into the pivotal role South County’s emerging hospitality industry will play in shaping the region’s brand and economic future.
The South County Mayors Panel will feature a discussion by Mayor John McCann, Chula Vista, Mayor John Duncan, Coronado, Mayor Paloma Aguirre, Imperial Beach, and Mayor Ron Morrison, National City.
The session will explore regional collaboration on infrastructure, investment attraction, jobs and housing of the future.
Consul General Christopher Teal will share his perspectives on South County’s global leadership and binational collaboration as the County grows.
The Artificial Intelligence in the Real World panel will feature a timely and informative session on how AI is transforming healthcare and education. The panelists include Shane Thielman, corporate Senior Vice President and CIO of Scripps Health, and Dr. James Frazee, Vice President of Information Technology and CIO, San Diego State University.
The Forecasts: Looking to the Horizon panel will feature Scott Andrews, president and CEO, Neighborhood National Bank, Dr. Farhang Mossavar-Rahmani, professor at National University College of Business, Economics, and Technology, and Josh Williams, founder and president, BW Research.
