Del Mar, CA–Did you lose your wallet, keys, or clothing at the San Diego County Fair? You can retrieve your items at the fairgrounds Guest Services Lost and Found office.
Guest Services has handled over 566 items in its Lost and Found this year. They keep these items until they are reunited with the owners, fair officials said.
“We aim to help our guests create lasting memories and assist in recovering items they may have forgotten, such as shoes, wallets, and cell phones,” said Tristan Hallman, Chief Communications Officer for the 22nd District Agricultural Association, which organizes the San Diego County Fair. “While many items have already been returned, we want to ensure nothing remains unclaimed after the Fair closes on Sunday. So if you’re missing something, please get in touch!”
Fairgoers can report a lost item to Guest Service at (858) 794-1124. Leave a message with the following information:
Describe the lost item, using details, including the date you attended the fair.
When you leave your name and phone number, speak slowly enough that the operator can write down your phone number. Spell your name if you think it will help them find your records.
If you lost a cell phone, describe the phone brand (such as Samsung, iPhone, etc.) and the phone service provider (such as AT&T or Verizon), as well as any other information that will help identify your phone (such as distinctive case or custom decoration).
If you lost keys, include information such as an approximate number of keys; if there is a key fob; whether they are car, home, or office keys; and whether a key ring or decorative item is attached.
To pick up the item, drive past the main entrance and proceed to the “Ride Share” parking lot. Look for the purple banners. Park and walk to the main entrance and go to Will Call.
Tell Will Call that you are going to Guest Services to retrieve an item. You will have to buy a ticket – as a deposit – for $20 cash, but this will be refunded to you when you return to Will Call.
Go to the Guest Services office (1st floor, east end of the Grandstand building), get your item, and return to Will Call for your refund. If you take more than one hour to retrieve your item, your car may be towed.
Individuals can claim an item after the fair closes. Call (858) 794-1124 to set up an appointment to come and retrieve the lost item. A representative will be on-site from July 8 to 15 to assist those seeking their items. All non-claimed items will be donated in September.
Items turned into Lost and Found included a fur-lined winter hat with ear flaps, a music stand, an umbrella stroller, men’s shoes, water bottles, jewelry sets of keys, eyeglasses, wallets and purses, clothing, cell phones (most have been reunited with their owners), and credit cards.
