Oceanside, CA–The City of Oceanside will formally dedicate a portion of the San Luis Rey River Trail in honor of Jensen Taylor Hughes, a cherished resident who tragically lost her life in a cycling accident on the trail.
The dedication will cover the trail segment stretching from Pacific Street to Benet Road, where memorials have already been placed at both entrances. A public ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on July 18 at the Pacific Street entrance, where family, friends, and community members will gather to celebrate Jensen’s life and legacy.
Jensen Hughes, daughter of longtime Oceanside residents Jeff and Robin Hughes, and sister to Sara, Jeremiah, and Daniel, was remembered for her generosity, intellect, and lifelong commitment to serving others.
“Jensen Taylor Hughes lived with a clear purpose, always striving to make a difference,” said her mother, Robin Hughes. “Though we will forever mourn her loss, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived. If there’s anything Jensen’s life teaches us, it’s to pursue your ‘Personal Legend’ with passion and integrity, and always choose to do what is right.”
Known for her adventurous spirit and global travels, Jensen devoted her time to giving back to those in need. Her legacy of compassion and service continues to resonate with all who knew her.
“Dedicating the trail in Jensen’s honor ensures that her legacy will continue to inspire our community,” said Howie Bruno, the Hughes family attorney.
The City’s tribute stands as a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose, courage, and kindness.
