Escondido, CA–Escondido Police issued 93 citations during a citywide traffic enforcement operation on Monday targeting violations that are considered primary collision factors.
The enforcement operation was conducted from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with officers contacting 96 motorists. Citations were issued for a variety of violations, including speeding, failing to obey signs and traffic signals, unsafe turning movements, cellphone use while driving and driving without a valid license.
“Preventing crashes and promoting safe travel for everyone remain top priorities for the Escondido Police Department,” Police Chief Ken Plunkett said. “We encourage all drivers to stay alert and use caution every time they get behind the wheel.”
The Escondido Police Department said additional targeted traffic enforcement operations will be conducted in the near future.
The program was funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which receives funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
