Coastal rail service suspended May 16-17 for scheduled maintenance

By SDCN Staff

Oceanside, CA–North County Transit – San Diego Railroad will suspend all coastal rail service on May 16 and May 17 for scheduled maintenance, the agency said.

The Coaster service between San Diego and Oceanside will be suspended during this period. Regularly scheduled service will resume the morning after the closure on May 18.

Weekend closures occur periodically throughout the year on a pre-determined schedule to provide construction crews the opportunity to work safely on and along the rail line to complete preventative maintenance improvements and advance major railroad construction projects.

While no passenger or freight trains will operate during the weekend closure, including Amtrak, other test trains, construction vehicles, and equipment will be active along the railroad right-of-way and on the tracks throughout the weekend. Residents along the corridor should remain alert, and the public is reminded to only cross the rail line at lawfully designated rail crossings.
