SAN DIEGO–U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry apprehended a man wanted for vehicular manslaughter in Los Angeles.
At about 2:23 p.m. on Monday, Alfredo Rodriguez Rangel approached Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, Pedestrian East Facility, and presented his California driver’s license. The officer performed a records check and found that Rangel had a warrant for vehicular manslaughter out of Los Angeles with a bail set at $1 million.
“I’m glad that we have taken another fugitive into custody to face justice,” said Moises Castillo, officer in charge of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. “CBP officers are dedicated to securing the nation’s border and this apprehension showcases our efforts to keep our communities safe.”
Officers took Rangel, a 63-year-old U.S. citizen, into custody, fingerprinted him to confirm the warrant, and that he was a positive match to the warrant. Officers later transported Rangel to the San Diego Central Jail.
