IMPERIAL BEACH–A man and a woman were hospitalized in connection with a physical altercation with other people early Saturday morning in Imperial Beach, according to Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a call shortly  after 4:30 a.m. for service of two possible gunshots along the 700 block of Seacoast Drive.

While checking the area for any possible suspects involved in the discharge of a firearm, deputies responded to a second call regarding an assault on Florida Street. Deputies located one adult male and one adult female victim with miscellaneous injuries consisting of lacerations and cuts to the torso, bumps, bruises, and scratches.

Paramedics transported the male victim to a local hospital. The female initially refused to be transported, but later requested to be transported to the hospital. Both calls for service on Seacoast and Florida are related.

The incident appears to have been a large fight between multiple people near the 700 block of Seacoast Drive. Both victims were unable to provide statements due to being transported to local hospitals. Imperial Beach detectives responded to both scenes to assume investigative responsibility. No arrests have been made and the victims’ injuries are not life threatening.
