OCEANSIDE–A 52-year-old man was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle travelling westbound on Oceanside Boulevard Wednesday morning, the Oceanside Police Department reports.

Oceanside Police Department responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian at Oceanside Blvd. and Arroyo Ave. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying in the westbound lanes of Oceanside Blvd. just west of Arroyo Ave. Oceanside paramedics pronounced the man deceased on scene. 

The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing and at this time fault has not been determined. The driver of the vehicle stated he was traveling westbound on Oceanside Blvd. through the intersection and collided with the pedestrian in the roadway. Based on evidence, officers believe the pedestrian was close to if not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision. Following the collision, the driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this collision on the part of the driver. The pedestrians name is being withheld at this time pending notification to the family. 

The investigation is ongoing.
