ESCONDIDO–An 18-year-old man accused of fatally shooting an Escondido man in March was arrested by Escondido police homicide detectives.
Detectives have charged Javier Seda, an Escondido resident, with the murder of 27-year-old Fabian Arellano. The crime is believed to be gang related. Seda is currently being held at the Vista Detention Facility.
Seda, a U.S. citizen fled to Mexico after the homicide, according to detectives. Escondido police worked with The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in the United States and Mexico to share intelligence that led to the apprehension of Seda. He was subsequently returned to the United States.
In March, police officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Escondido Blvd. and 9th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Arellano was the victim of a shooting. Arellano was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died.
