Encinitas, CA–A 51-year-old man was arrested Tuesday by Sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of lurking in a woman’s backyard at her home in the Cardiff-by-the-Sea community of Encinitas, authorities said.

It happened on Tuesday just before 8:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Oxford Avenue. A woman called 9-1-1 to report a man walked through the home’s side fence and had been lurking in her backyard.

When deputies arrived, a pickup truck was seen leaving the area. The driver was speeding and running through stop signs. Deputies pulled over the driver in the 600 block of Lomas Santa Fe Drive in Solana Beach. Surveillance video of the suspect in the backyard matched the driver.

Darren Amador was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a charge of prowling.

The Sheriff’s Department said Amador may be connected to other prowling incidents in Cardiff-by-the-Sea since April of this year.
