OCEANSIDE–A man was found shot in the head early Saturday morning near The Strand in Oceanside, according to Oceanside police department.
Just after 2:30 a.m., police officers responded to a medical aid in the 700 block South, The Strand. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim lying face down with a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived on scene. The victim, an 18 year old Hispanic male adult, was transported to a Scripps La Jolla hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical staff. Name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
Homicide detectives are conducting a follow-up into the shooting incident.
It is unknown at this time if this was a self-inflicted gunshot or others were involved with this incident.
