Fallbrook, CA–A 53-year-old man was fatally stabbed Saturday evening at a nursery in Fallbrook, the Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.

Sheriff’s deputies received a report around 8 p.m. about an assault on a man in the 5400 block of Rainbow Creek Road in Fallbrook.

Deputies arrived at the nursery to find Ismael Alberto Resendiz, of Escondido suffering from stab wounds. Resendiz was transported to a local area hospital. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. 

During the investigation, deputies contacted 57-year-old Luis Enrique Muniz who resided at the nursery. Muniz was later identified as the person who stabbed Resendiz. Muniz was arrested for suspicion of murder and booked into Vista Detention Facility. 

The motivation and circumstances of the murder are currently under investigation.
