SANTEE–A man who brandished an airsoft gun at a home improvement store employee Thursday was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies.
Just after 6 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an unknown man with a firearm at the Home Depot parking lot, located at 255 Town Center Parkway in Santee. The man later fled on foot.
After receiving reports from witnesses, deputies located the man hiding in the restroom of the nearby IHOP restaurant at 9708 Mission Gorge Road. He was taken into custody at the restaurant, and was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun.
The investigation revealed that the man confronted store employees in the parking lot and threatened one of them with the gun. This occurred after the man had just been questioned inside the store by other employees regarding possible theft. No theft had occurred at the store.
No one was injured in the incident. The man was booked into the San Diego County Jail for criminal threats and resisting arrest.
