San Diego, CA–San Diego-based California Highway Patrol officers arrested a man on suspicion of carjacking a driver with a bow and arrow on Interstate 8 Wednesday in east county.  

The unidentified suspect was detained by US Border Patrol agents at the Campo Border Patrol Checkpoint. He was turned over to CHP, and booked into San Diego Central Jail on numerous felony charges. 

CHP responded to a report around 8:07 p.m. of a male pedestrian on the freeway at Interstate 8 eastbound, west of Waring Road. 

CHP officers determined the male driver of a Toyota Highlander was attacked and carjacked by the pedestrian. The driver was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
