BONITA–Authorities arrested a Chula Vista man in connection with the July 4 shooting death of a woman in Bonita, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports.
Homicide detectives identified 20-year-old Giovanny Rodriguez as the suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Janessa Delvalle. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail for one count of murder.
On July 4, at about 7:40 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a person who was shot in the 5100 block of Cedarwood Road in Bonita. When deputies arrived, they found an adult female victim who had been shot and witnesses were performing CPR.
Deputies learned there was a fight between several women in the parking lot of an apartment complex just prior to the shooting. The victim was found in the parking lot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
