SAN DIEGO–A driver involved in a vehicle collision Tuesday in San Diego was rescued by several good Samaritans,
On September 18, at approximately 8:05 a.m., a white Freightliner traveling southbound on State Route 163 north of State Route 52 collided with the rear of Toyota Highlander at a high rate of speed.
The Highlander was then pushed into several other vehicle that were stopped in traffic on SR-163 southbound. The Highlander was pushed of the road and caught fire. A Marine who had stopped to assist saw the Highlander on fire and realized the driver was trapped in her vehicle.
The Marine broke out the passenger side window with his elbow and with the assistance of another good Samaritan was able to pull the driver of the Highlander to safety. The driver of the Highlander and the driver of a Sonata suffered injuries from the collision and were transported to Scripps La Jolla for treatment. Without the assistance of the good Samaritans on scene the outcome of this collision would been much more tragic.
