Oceanside, CA –Fire crews contained a structure fire that broke out Saturday afternoon at a coffee business in South Oceanside, fire officials said.

Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Vista Fire Department crews were dispatched to the fire around 12:35 p.m. at the San Diego Coffee Co., located at 1722 South Freeman Street.

Fire crews arrived on the scene and found the commercial building with thick brown smoke coming from the roof. They entered the business through the front and found a large commercial coffee roaster on fire. The blaze was contained to the roaster and crews were able to extinguish the fire using both a fire hose and a manually operated fire sprinkler plumbed directly to the hopper of the coffee roaster, They remained on the scene to remove water from the building in order to prevent water damage to contents, fire officials said.

No civilians or firefighters were injured.

Fire officials said it is likely that the installation of fire sprinklers, and the rapid response of firefighters prevented any loss of property or displacement of the business.

The fire is currently under investigation by an Oceanside Fire Department investigator.
